Description
IMPACT Chicago, an organization committed to a world where all people live safely, adheres to the philosophy that self-defense skills open up possibilities and confidence in making choices for dealing with violence. This workshop is an opportunity for professionals and advocates who work with abuse and trauma victims to experience this for themselves-not only as a powerful piece of self-care, but also to enable them to speak to others about the role of physical and verbal empowerment in healing and growth. Participants will be introduced to principles and techniques by engaging in simulated scenarios, including with a padded attacker, to learn and practice verbal and physical self-defense skills. Although the strategies that will be presented are geared towards women, men may also register for this workshop. (2.5 CEUs)
